Channels TV Interview with Analysts on Sanusi's Suspension Triggers Strong-Negative Public Comments on YouTube by Nigerians World-wide...

CBN Governor- Sanusi

Days after the suspension of the governor of Nigeria's Central Bank by the president, Channels TV interviewed some alleged learned legal-cum-political luminaries (legal.. not financial or economic) who claimed to have analysed  pitfalls in his tenure by rendering "baseless and shallow-minded  opinions" (as suggested by one of the many comments) about the governor. I barely made it half way through the video when my academic senses were shut down by a shallow minded description of the CBN governor from one of the analyst  as he said;
"...Sanusi is a motor-park-boy..."
One of the Analyst
More shallow statements after the cut...

by the way, that's the link to the interview, don't forget to read the comments unless you've had way too many laughs already....

‘Buhari’s Boko Haram Rejection: Right Political Decision- Analysts

Some political analysts have described Gen. Muhammadu Buhari’s rejection of the mediator role offered him in a proposed peace talk between the Federal Government and the Boko Haram as a right political decision.
The analysts, who spoke with SUNDAY PUNCH, said the offer had put Buhari in a political dilemma but that the former presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change took the better of the two options he had.
A senior political science lecturer at the University of Abuja, Prof. Dauda Saleh, said Buhari’s rejection of the offer to serve as mediator was the right thing to do, but noted that it was a tough political choice he made.
“It was really a dilemma. On one hand, if he had accepted the offer, there was the possibility that he would have been linked to the group and that would have been a serious liability and could have ended his political career. This is more so because some people seem to have the impression that he is an Islamic fundamentalist, who had a religious agenda.
“But on the other hand, rejecting the offer, some people would say he turned down an opportunity to help solve a major national problem. So, both options had the potential of hurting his political career one way or another. But, I think he made the right choice.”
Similarly, the Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, University of Lagos, Prof. Solomon Akinboye, said Buhari’s decision could have been acceptance or rejection, with uncertain political implications.
He said, “The man (Buhari) said he does not know them (Boko Haram), so, he cannot mediate for them. It was his decision to make and I think he was right in taking that decision. Whether his decision would affect his political career is another issue.
“However, if he had accepted and was able to help curb the insecurity in the country, it would have been a plus for him. It was really a political dilemma. Now, some people might see him as running away from an important national service.”
In the same vein, the National President of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Yerima Shettima, said Buhari’s rejection of the offer was a welcome development.
Shettima said the proposed peace talk was likely to fail, adding that the nomination of Buhari might be a trap to discredit him.
He said, “Buhari’s rejection of the offer of the mediatory role is a welcome development and that is because I don’t see anything coming out of the so-called dialogue.
“I believe there are still sign that the whole negotiation will not hold water and it is not proper for Buhari, with the reputation he has built over the years, to get involved in such activity.
“Buhari said he did not know these people called Boko Haram and you cannot expect him to stand for people he has not met. They should have chosen clerics or some other prominent people in the North, not Buhari who is leading an opposition party. Whether you like it or not, this move has a political undertone. It is either a booby trap set by the government of the day to mess Buhari up, or those people behind Boko Haram want to mess him up.”
Shettima added that Buhari’s rejection of the offer had also shown that the insurgency had nothing to do with Buhari’s loss at the 2011 presidential election or the North’s ambition to regain power at the centre.
“No real northerner is happy with what is happening, because we are losing more,” he said.

Kogi flood victims ‘invade’ Delta

HUNDREDS of victims of the flood disaster in Kogi State are reportedly trooping to Delta State, where they believe Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan is more compassionate in the aftermath of  the natural calamity.
Just two days ago,  flood victims in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, besieged the streets, accusing the state government of abandoning them for over one week, in spite of huge funds and relief materials collected on their behalf.
The protesters, some of who wore overcast faces,  a number dressed in threadbare  dresses , others had their babies strapped behind them,  alleged that government officials had diverted food items meant for them into private use.
Unknown to the Kogi flood victims,  majority of the flood camps in Delta  were in the process of winding up and  the victims were already  returning home to restart life.
Delta State Committee of Flood, headed by Justice Francis Tabai (rtd), ran into some of the victims from Kogi barely 24 hours after its inauguration. The committee members met the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, from Kogi pleading desperately with officials at the Illah camp, Illah in  Oshimili North Local Government Area, to allow them in, as they were hungry.
A source told Sunday Vanguard, “The committee noticed over 100 women and children fresh presumably IDPs locked outside the gate of the camp, as officials refused them in on the grounds that the camp was winding up and there were no relief materials for their  upkeep”.
The victims told members of the committee that they were from Kogi and needed care, but they were advised to to go to Asaba or any other designated camp close to them for registration, as the Illah camp was, indeed, winding up.
A member of the committee said: “As at when we visited Illah flood victims’ camp, there were only 45 families remaining in the said camp. The development we were told by officials of the camp  was quite understandable due to the fact that majority of the said IDPs are farmers and fishermen/women from neighbouring Kogi and Anambra states, who are very eager to return to their trades, especially since now is the peak period of their trade.”

Apple accused of hiding U.K. Samsung 'apology' with code

No matter how large their screen resolution is or their browser window is, visitors to Apple's U.K. Web site may struggle to see the "mea culpa" statement on the home page.

No matter how tall their browser window is or how dense their screen resolution, visitors to Apple's U.K. Web site must scroll down the page to view the "apology" to Samsung that a U.K. Court of Appeal recently ordered Apple to display.
First noted by users on news-sharing site Reddit, Apple has within the past few weeks installed JavaScript code that dynamically resizes the central image on the Apple U.K. Web site to take up the maximum amount of space possible.
As a result, the central image -- currently an iPad Mini -- takes up just enough space to push the "apology" statement out of sight, meaning visitors must scroll down the page to view it.
This JavaScript "resize" code (which can be found here) was also uploaded to code-sharing site Pastebin as a "backup" by one Reddit user. The code appears to be installed only on Apple's U.K. Web site, and does not appear on the main Apple U.S. Web site.
The resize code, verified by an independent developer speaking to CNET, forces the central image to take up the proportion of the page, showing only the central image advertisement of theiPad Mini, along with the four separate product advertisements visible at the bottom of the screen, if possible. The code ensures that no matter how large vertically the browser size is, only the central image and subsequent four boxes should be visible without scrolling down.
Using the Wayback Machine -- a service that lets users see historical versions of Web sites as though they were live today -- to view the latest cached version of Apple's U.K. Web site (currently June 8, 2012), we found that the site doesn't appear to have included the resize code, suggesting it has been added during the past four months.

Apple's vanishing iPad

Call it the featherweight KO'ing the heavyweight. On the first day of sales, the 312-gram Mini knocked the 652-gram fourth-generation iPad into quick obscurity.
The iPad we know and love seemed to vanish yesterday.

I knew there was a problem when I had to explain to people asking me about the iPad Mini that there was also this thing called the gen 4 (gen 3.5 may actually be more accurate) iPad.
And some stores weren't exactly aware of the new iPad either. A sales rep at a certain large U.S. retail store (which will go unnamed) in Los Angeles gushed about the iPad Mini but was stumped when I asked about the gen 4 iPad.
